After Pacquiao's flawless victory over "the goldenboy" Oscar de la Hoy and Briton Ricky Hatton, many called for a Pacquiao-Mayweather match.
Undefeated former pound for pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. also defeated de la Hoya via split decision victory. A bout which was said to be boxing history's greatest pay per view, surely enough for him to retire and leave all the titles behind.
Mayweather Jr. is a very talented fighter, same as de la Hoya, an olympic gold medalist and a brilliant tactician in the ring. But many are not satisfied with his fight. Whatever the cost is, he fights to win! Even sacrificing on puttig a good show. But boxing fans don't want fights to watch one fighter win, fans watch fights to be entertained.
His style, on staying safe, running away and scoring points is a boring fight. He surely is a thinking fighter. But a boring one.
This is the exact opposite of Pacquiao's being. "The Pacman" fights in the ring not only to win but also to entertain boxing fans. Pacquiao is a modern gladiator, a very exciting fighter in which if Russel Crowe played his part he need not to ask the audience,"Are you now entertained?!!."
Mayweather on the other hand is a modern ballerina who waltz his way to victory. Though there is nothing wrong with this, watching a 140 pounder waltzing in a boxing ring is a borin one.
Many are anticipating for a battle of pound for pound kings, and that Mayweather should come out from retirement to fight Pacquaio.
A big disappointment may arise if we come to consider Mayweather. First, Floyd will not fight Pacquiao. In order to preserve is impressive record of ballet, this pretty boy is known to fight weaker fighter and avoid the stronger ones. A list which includes Margarito, Cotto & Mosley.
Mayweather Jr. is on a free treat of nightmare after Pacquaio's series of devastating victories over Diaz, de la Hoya, and Hatton. What excuse should he then make in order to prevent a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight?
Opposite to older de la Hoya, Mayweather is not an easy target though. Moving targets, rather running targets are very difficult to hit. Pacquiao should be needing a lot of breath to chase Mayweather with punches, a lesson Pacquiao should learn from Hatton's experience of fighting Mayweather.
Second, Floyd Mayweather Jr. will always have excuses. Aside from being a brilliant tactician, he is a good debater. A talent which credits him to have a clean shot perfect record of fighting weaker fighters and avoiding stronger one's by making alibi's. Surely, money will always be an issue, and the purse split is a the main problem here. That's why it would be very difficult to have Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
