There are several attempts to make the dream fight happen. After the Pacquiao-Cotto fight and the Mayweather-Marquez fight last year, boxing fans are hungry for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight to happen. But the many issues had yet to be agreed upon between both parties, such as the "purse split" and the controversial "random blood testing" for both boxers.
MAYWEATHER'S DEMANDS
Mayweather always wanted the biggest share of the fight, not even considering that Pacquiao is the World's Number One Boxer according to Yahoo Sports and Ring Magazine. But Mayweather has also his own reasons of demanding for a bigger share, since most of his fights, those events are shall we say "revenue-generating" events, and attracting even celebrities from Hollywood. A 50-50 split, or a 60-40 split in favor of Floyd, what can we say?
PACQUIAO'S STEROID ACCUSATIONS
The purse split is apparently a lighter issue to tackle upon compared to the "random blood testing" before the fight. Pacquiao had been accused by the "Mayweathers" that he is under the influence steroids. They have a good reason to believed since the Pacman's accomplishment of earning 7 Boxing World Titles in 7 different weight divisions is a very rare feat. This puts Manny as one of the boxing's greatest. The Mayweather's don't think so, the only reason why is so strong and fast even in the later rounds of heavier divisions fights, is that, he could be using steroids.
OLYMPIC-STYLE OF RANDOM BLOOD TESTING
The random blood testing have been used by the Olympic Committee to make their athletes are clean and are giving a fair-play of games. This method is proven to be successful of catching cheaters and is said to be the most effective method of drug-testing for athletes. Pacquiao, even before, is very concerned of drawing blood before fights, because he believes, that this could weaken a fighter, which raises some concerns that Pacquiao may have been eventually giving alibis of not drawing some blood for drug-testing.
SETTLING TO MAYWEATHER'S DEMANDS
Many fans have been criticizing Pacquiao for his refusal of drawing blood for drug test, as a result, Pacquiao agreed to Mayweather's term of random blood testing before the fight. After settling to Mayweathers' demands, Floyd said that he is not interested of boxing of this time, and is only focusing on his vacation. This is a good call to everyone that Floyd Mayweather is apparently to be running away from Pacquiao and is concerned of tarnishing is unblemished boxing record. This, as a result, Mayweather is moved to 2nd best pound per pound fighter in Yahoo Sports, and placing Pacman as number one.
MANNY PACQUAIO VS ANTONIO MARGARITO
After Mayweather's refusal of fighting Pacquiao despite of giving in on his terms, Manny is scheduled to fight Antonio "Tijuana's Tornado" Margarito this November 13, 2010. This bout will be for a vacant WBC Super Welterweight, which will be Pacquiao's attempt of earning his 8th World title in 8 different weight divisions.
MAYWEATHER-PACQUIAO FIGHT DATE
This dream fight will eventually be held next year, after Floyd's vacation. Bob Arum said that Pacquaio will be fighting twice next year after the Margarito bout. Several boxing names is lined up such as Andre "The Beast" Berto (WBC Welterweight Champion), Miguel Cotto (Light Middleweight Champion), Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, and Floyd Mayweahter.
